Frequently Asked Questions

Did you hire someone to clear the forest? How did you do this?

In short: our four goats do much of the clearing. A more thorough answer is, we enjoy gardening and exploring nature. One of our core strategies in life is incrementalism. It took almost a year before we could even walk easily to the creek. In short, our approach has been to do a round of chainsaw and lopper work, then set up fencing for the goats. After a while, we then easily walk through and clip out the invasive brush and selective vines. Along the way, we identify snags and tangles to leave untouched. As a targeted area opens up and grows back in, we curate spaces for people.

What are you planning to do?

We plan to do a little of everything, as it relates to education, community, and nature. Our plan is to start small, with some events and activities intended to foster collaboration with our friends and provide new experiences for the community. Many in our network are creative, independent, and family-oriented. We strive to offer a different approach to community programming and bring together unexpectedly like-minded people.

Do you offer tutoring, also?

Yes! Mr. Davis has been an educator for 20 years in the Tulsa area. Most recently, he closed a 7-year stint teaching ELA at Bixby Middle School. Before that, he built a reputation for innovation, iconoclasm, and creativity with Northeastern State University, Tulas Community College, and Union Public Schools. Now, he has created his own classroom and welcomes students to study with him.

I was a student years ago in Mr. Davis’s class… does he remember me?

You know he’s bad with names. 🤣 Chances are good he remembers your face and some jokes you shared. And, if you were in his class when Covid hit, he did save those Letters to Yourself. Yes, he will dig it up for you so you can laugh and cringe. (No, he didn’t read them.)

What subjects does Mr. Davis tutor?

Middle-school, high-school, GED-seeking, and college students needing help with ELA, Art, and History-related topics are best-suited for Mr. Davis. However, he can be a helpful study partner for almost any student. Over the years, his rosters have included sixth graders to university students, and there’s no academic challenge he hasn’t seen. If you’re struggling with a specific language or reading skill, need help with writing or studying for important exams, confused about a novel or unit because it’s boring, Mr. Davis can help with that. ACT or SAT test prep? He can work with whatever system you’re using or attack it from square one. Mr. Davis understands what teachers and tests are looking for, where students get confused - and how to help them surpass their own expectations when it comes to reading, writing, thinking, and speaking. Students rediscover their joy for learning when they work with Mr. Davis. Click here to schedule a session with Mr. Davis.
