Tulsa County Women’s Collective Monthly Meetup - Wild Clay Series - Part 1
🌾 TCWC September: Wild Clay Series Part One 🌾
From creek bed to fire pit: Learn to embrace growth through failure with wild pottery. 😅
For our September meet-up, we’re slowing down and getting our hands into the earth with a two-part Oklahoma Wild Clay series.
TCWC’s co-founder, Rachael (an enthusiastic novice backyard potter), explains: “I first tried gathering clay from our creek a year or so ago (inspired by my potter sister + Andy Ward’s Ancient Pottery YouTube videos). Some pots survived, plenty cracked, and I loved the whole process. This TCWC workshop series is about that same spirit — starting fresh, learning together and celebrating the outcome.”
✨ Part One — Sunday, September 21 at 3 PM
Learn how to collect and process wild clay with hands-on demos. Then we’ll hand-build simple projects — a small pot, a little sculpture, an ornament, or even garden plant labels (pieces will not be food safe). You’ll take your creation home or leave it with us to slowly dry over the next three weeks.
✨ Part Two — Sunday, October 12 time TBD
Open firing in the fire pit. It’s always a bit of a lottery — some pieces will make it, some won’t — and that unpredictability is part of the beauty.
No experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to get a little muddy. If you have pottery or clay experience, we welcome collaboration! As always, this is a free event. Follow us for updates on whether the weather impacts plans.
