Rachael Davis is an Oklahoma-based artist and gardener.
Originally from the redwoods of Northern California, she has called northeastern Oklahoma home for more than 25 years.
Rachael is an ecologically minded gardener with a particular interest in native plants, biodiversity, local ecology, and creating habitat for wildlife. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University and has worked as a veterinarian in the Tulsa area for more than a decade.
Her connection to the natural world through gardening, ecology, and her work with animals provides much of the subject matter and inspiration for her art. With paintings usually depicting flora and fauna of the Oklahoma region, Rachael’s approach dances between post-Impressionism and Expressionist traditions; exploring how the interplay of light and color evoke our emotions to dissolve one’s sense that they are separate from nature. Her brush strokes convey the vibrations of life connecting all creatures, great and small. Her compositions explore the range of caricature to abstract, and each piece invites the audience to meditate and bask in the sunshine with the pollinators and prairie.
She and her husband run Daviii Third Eye, a creative entity that produces art, music, and nature events from their Suburban Nature Bubble in Broken Arrow, OK.
